wearejournalists: Student Media. We gain little respect in the real world. Our news editor was recently arrested at Occupy Atlanta for merely trying to get a photo for a story. My photographers got badly injured in the protest just trying to cover a story. College students as journalists: we aren’t taken seriously. But we are real journalists. We deal with sources not contacting us, deadlines being met (or not met), AP Style errors, late nights and no food. We tackle jobs, class schedules, and the pressures of producing a newspaper all at one time. We are real journalists. I am a college journalist.
